PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Community Contractors was one of three contractors that bid for the Canad Inns. Upon being selected for the project, Community Contractors provided Value Engineering to save approximately $1.7 million dollars. Some of the changes consisted of wall types and railing systems, and mechanical and electrical items saved $488,000. Community Contractors was responsible for working with the owners, Design Team, and all the trades. Community Contractors worked hard to maintain the schedule due to a four-month delay because of corporate design changes to the tower. Community Contractors met the completion date of May 1, 2007. Now adjacent to the Alerus Center in Grand Forks is the Canad Inns, with 200 guest rooms, three unique restaurants, a gaming lounge, fitness center and the 40,000-square-foot Splasher’s of the South Seas indoor water park. This Canad Inns property is 233,000 sf. The contract for $28,373,751.13 was issued on January 24, 2006, and Community Contractors handled design and construction, helping keep the project on pace and within budget for its May 1, 2007, opening.
