PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Career Impact Academy in Grand Forks, North Dakota, is a new construction project designed by JLG Architects. The construction is being managed through a Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R) delivery method by a joint venture of PCL Construction and Community Contractors. This state-of-the-art facility, located southeast of the Highway 2/I-29 interchange, is set to open in Fall 2025. It aims to address workforce shortages by providing high school (primarily grades 10-12) and adult learners with specialized career and technical education in fields like aerospace, computer science, engineering, robotics, culinary arts, and health sciences. The 55,333 sq. ft. academy will offer opportunities for industry credentials, dual/concurrent enrollment, and work-based learning experiences. It will also serve as a community asset, providing adult education and customized industry training. The design features flexible learning spaces and labs that mimic real-world job environments, organized around a central “Career Impact Academy hub” to encourage collaboration and highlight the various programs.
